Vice-Senior General Soe Win receives delegation led by director of Geneva Centre for Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) of Switzerland


Vice-Senior General Soe Win meets Ambassador Mr. Thomas Guerber, director of Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win received a delegation led by Ambassador Mr. Thomas Guerber, director of Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) based in Geneva, Switzer-land, at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here at 10 am Yesterday.

Also present together with the Vice-Senior General were senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The director of DCAF was accompanied by Dr. Albrecht Schnabel, head of Asia-Pacific region for DCAF, and officals.

Mr. Thomas Guerber explained background history of DCAF, cooperation with international organizations and plans to cooperate with Southeast Asian countries including Myanmar in security sector. Then, both sides exchanged views on the challenges facing Myanmar in security and defence sectors in its democratization.

They also cordially discussed DCAF’s conducting of DDR and SSR courses in relation to Myanmar’s peace process, strengthening of cooperation in security sector development and giving advice and technical help. After the meeting, the Vice-Senior General presented a gift to Mr. Thomas Guerber, and they posed for documentary photo together with those present.
