Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives Chinese Ambassador


Senior General Min Aung Hlaing holds talks with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Hong Liang.

Countries where armed clashes can be seen are needy ones which cannot become rich. The Tatmadaw stays away from making war to the most possible degree as it only brings losses. As myanmar and China are strategic partners their stance must be beneficial to both countries. Cooperative efforts will be made for peace and stability of the border between the two countries, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing during his meeting with a delegation led by Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Hong Liang at Zeyathiri Parlour here at 9 am yesterday.

Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and Lt-Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The ambassador was accompanied by Military Attaché Senior Colonel Xiong Shaowei and officials.

At the call, the Senior General discussed matters relating to the background history of Laukkai region, the launching of military activities by the insurgents in the northeast region in 2015, 2016 and 2017, their preference for the military action after rejecting of the peace overtures made by the government and the Tatmadaw, the sacrifices made by the Tatmadawmen and the many losses suffered by the insurgents, the occurrence of a nowin situation in which local people and the bilateral border trade relations were hurt, and the cooperative efforts to deter their further military activities in ensuring peace and stability at the common border.

The ambassador explained the issues at Myanmar-China border, which were harming its peace, stability and security and participation in the negotiations for restoring peace in Myanmar, and discussed the current ground situation of Laukkai, efforts of the two countries, and further cooperation for peace, stability and security of the border.
