Navy vessels from Tatmadaw(Navy), airplanes and helicopters from Tatmadaw (Air), ground military units in cooperation with local people and trawlers continuously carry out search and rescue operations for the Tatmadaw’s crashed transport plane Y-8. At 8.45am yesterday, the ground military units which undertook searching task along Maungmakan-Mayingyi beach found three dead bodies. A total of 90 bodies have been found,so far.
Moreover, three local trawlers which were carrying out searching at the sea together with Navy vessels of Tatmadaw (Navy) at 7 pm on 14 June found one travelling bag,clothes and other personal goods,ornaments and currency notes including one officer scrutiny card and two identity cards at about 10 nautical miles south of Launglonbok Island.
The bodies salvaged today from the sea were sent to Tatmadaw Hospital in Dawei and put under forensic tests. Bereaved families also inspected them. After the bereaved families had arrived, 18 bodies were well cremated in accord with the Buddhist tradition and procedures of the Tatmadaw yesterday.
