Vice-Senior General Soe Win holds separate talks with Lieutenant General Angus Campbell of Australia and General Kim Yong-woo of ROK


Vice-Senior General Soe Win holds talks with Chief of Army Lieutenant General Angus Campbell of the Australian Defence Force.

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in- Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win who is in the Republic of Korea held talks with Chief of Army Lieutenant General Angus Campbell of the Australian Defence Force at Bilateral Meeting Room of Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul this morning.

At the meeting, Vice-Senior General Soe Win explained the history of Rakhine State, attempts to invent a race that is not included in the 135 ethnic races of Myanmar, authentic information on the incidents that have been occurring from 2002 to this date, the facts that are missing in the global media with the help of maps and documentary photos.

Lieutenant General Angus Campbell expressed thanks for the authentic information, asking whether it is possible to permit other global media and independent organizations to visit the area in refuting the prevailing biased news of the international sphere.

The Vice-Senior General said the Advisory Commission led by Mr. Kofi Annan was free to visit and hold meetings and interviews without any restriction in Rakhine State. The government of Myanmar has permitted local and foreign media to visit the secure places in Rakhine State.

After the meeting, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and Lieutenant General Angus Campbell exchanged emblems and gifts.

Vice-Senior General Soe Win then met Korean Army Chief General Kim Young-woo at the Bilateral Meeting Room of Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul this afternoon. At the meeting, the Vice-Senior General explained the friendship and multilateral cooperation between the two armed forces, the background history of Rakhine State and the real situations in Rakhine State with historical evidence, maps and images.

General Kim Young-woo said he had the chance to know the true situations due to the explanation. He added he heard that Myanmar would clarify real situations at the United Nations General Assembly to make it known to the world. For the Republic of Korea, it would help Myanmar as much as it could.

After the meeting, Vice-Senior General Soe Win and General Kim Young-woo exchanged emblems and gifts. A memory stick containing the real situations was also presented.
