Nay Pyi Taw February 16

Peace-making processes and accusations of human rights against the nation are difficulties and challenges of the country after 2011, and the Tatmadaw cooperates with the government in successfully solving and overcoming them, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at a meeting with Ambassador of Qatar to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Hassan Bin Mohamed Rafei Al-Emadi at the Parlour of Bayintnaung Villa, here, at 11 am today.

Also present at the meeting were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in- Chief (Army). The Qatari ambassador to Myanmar was accompanied by Political Officer Mr. Nazar Fadol.

At the meeting, the Senior General, in his greetings, gladly welcomed the ambassador for opening of the embassy of Qatar to Myanmar in 2015 and for his assignment. Then, the Senior General explained innocent and keen endeavours of the Tatmadaw in peace-making processes, needs of other organizations to actually build peace and trust, utmost assistance being given by the Tatmadaw to actual internally displaced persons from the battles which happened in northern part of Myanmar with regard to accusations of violating the human rights, and strictly abiding by the humanitarian processes prescribed in the military code of conduct. The Senior General said that the Tatmadaw is ready to solve the human rights violations if it is true.

Next, the Senior General further explained needs to correctly register main data related to the issue of Rakhine State, and requirements of providing deserved rights under the law to those who have been registered. The Senior General said that the Tatmadaw does not violate human rights in the region, and if the Tatmadaw violated human rights and broke something in the region, it would be wrongdoings of individuals, and action will be taken against them under the law. The Tatmadaw does not accept the matters which may harm stability of the nation at a time when concerted efforts are being made for ensuring peace and stability of the nation.

Afterwards, the guest ambassador said that he had heard difficulties related to the peace-making processes and the pressure based on human rights was imposed on Myanmar during his assignment period. He recounted his discussions that it should give adequate time for solving the pressure on such issue through correct ways and means at the OIC meeting recently held in Malaysia. He expressed his hope for ensuring peace and stability in the issues of Myanmar. He pledged to give a helping hand to Myanmar in the peace-making processes. They then frankly exchanged views on the peace-making processes of Myanmar in comparison with international peace processes.
