Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing arrives back from India

The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing left New Delhi by air at 3.30 pm local standard time yesterday after paying a goodwill visit to the Republic of India, at the invitation of Chairman of Chiefs of Staff Committee of Indian Armed Forces Admiral Sunil Lanba.

They were seen off at the airport by Myanmar Ambassador to the Republic of India U Maung Wai and wife, Myanmar Military Attaché(Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Thein Zaw and wife, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff of International Relation and Cooperation Department from Indian Naval Headquarters Rear Admiral DhirenVig and wife and officials.

The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation arrived back at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport at 8 pm.They were welcomed at the airport by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy)Admiral Tin Aung San and wife,Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, Charge d’ Affaires Mr. Balasubramanian Shyam from the embassy of the Republic of India to Myanmar and officials.

Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Lt-Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and the commander of Northern Command and the commander of North-West Command, who accompanied the Senior General as members of the delegation, also arrived back on the same flight.

At 11 am local standard time today, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing together with Lt-Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), senior military officers and Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Thein Zaw, arrived at the Embassy of Myanmar to the Republic of India. They were welcomed there by Myanmar Ambassador U Maung Wai and wife, families of the embassy and the military attaché’s office and trainee officers studying in India.

Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General said his visit to India was mainly aimed at further strengthening the relations between the two countries. As the Tatmadaw never changes, the amicability between the two armed forces will contribute a lot to the bilateral relationship.Particularly, the relationship with neighbouring countries is more important. Since the diplomatic ties are crucial in the relations between the two countries, the embassy and the military attaché’s office are urged to cooperate each other.Good diplomatic relations will benefit political affairs, he added.

The Senior General stressed the need to strengthen and stabilize the way to multi-party democracy the people have chosen since 2011. Our Three Main National Causes are of importance in realizing peace and stability. It needs not to harm Our Three Main National Causes. It is much necessary to ensure regional peace and stability. Cooperation between Tatmadaws can implement peace and stability in the border region. Only when the country is peaceful, will the economic sector have growth. On the other hand, it is necessary to truly carry out tasks in political trend. 

Consequently, the country will have political trust as well as economic one. The Senior General urged them to try hard to promote trade sector between the two nations through various ways and means. Only when the country can produce export products, can it create production and job opportunities. As such, the country will earn income. Hence,the embassy and military attaché’s office should place emphasis on diplomatic relations. Those from the two offices in the diplomatic arena need to culture Myanmar spirit while forging the spirit to unite among them. The Senior General urged them to give a helping hand to those who reside in India from Myanmar due to various reasons. And, the Senior General stressed the need to take care of their health conditions due to strong climatic conditions in India and not to forget own culture and religion.

Afterwards, the Senior General presented foodstuffs, gifts, cash awards and clothes which were produced by Tatmadaw garment factories for families of the embassy and the military attaché’s office and officer trainees. The ambassador and wife, the military attaché and wife, families of the embassy and the military attaché’s office and officer trainees accepted them. Next, the Senior General and party were hosted a luncheon by families of the embassy and the military attaché’s office.
