Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation arrives in Kunming, Yunnan Province of PRC, visits Ethnic Village

The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation, led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, arrived at Chang Shui International Airport in Kunming, Yunnan Province, the People’s Republic of China, at 12.15 pm local standard time today at the invitation of Central Military Commission Member Chief of the Joint Staff of the People’s Liberation Army of China Gen. Fang Fenghui. The delegation was welcomed at the airport by Maj. Gen. Wu Xiao Yu, Commissioner of the International Military Cooperation Office of the Central Military  Commission of PLA, Deputy Commander of Yunnan Military Region Maj. Gen. Qu Xin Yong and senior military officers, Myanmar Ambassador to China U Thit Lin Ohn, Consul General of Kunming U Soe Paing, Military Attaché Brig-GenTint Hsan and officials.

In the afternoon, the Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation visited Yunnan Ethnic Village, located northwest to Kunming. First, the Senior General and party arrived at Tibetan Village and they were conducted by officials round the village and temple.

Next, the Senior General and delegation members studied Naxi Village, Bai Village, Yi Village and Dai Village where officials concerned gave an account of the ethnic traditional buildings, arts and handicrafts. Traditional songs and dances were also presented. Yunnan Ethnic Village features the customs and traditions of 25 ethnic groups and it is built with beautiful sceneries attracting a large number of visitors.

The Senior General and party then visited a plantation in Guo Lin village in Xi Shan region. In the plantation, strawberries are grown with a tissue culture technique in greenhouses. They are created with the aromas of chocolate, blueberry, pineapple and milk. The plantation has grown strawberry of local and foreign species with the use of natural fertilizers made of mashed small fish. The growing of strawberry plants started in August this year and the fruits can be plucked in October. With a good yield, the plantation has put three acres of land under strawberries. One acre can earn 30,000 to 100,000 Yuan.
