Vice-Senior General Soe Win accords Chief of Staff of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force with the Guard of Honour, holds meeting

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win welcomed Gen. Koji YAMAZAKI, Chief of Staff of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, with the Guard of Honour in front of Zeyathiri Beikman here yesterday morning.

The Vice-Senior General and the Chief of Staff of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force first took the salute of the Guard of Honour and inspected it.

Then, they mutually introduced senior officers of the two militaries at the event.

Also present together with the Vice-Senior General on the occasion were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief. Gen. Koji YAMAZAKI was accompanied by senior officers of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force and Japanese Military Attaché to Myanmar Col. Kei TAJIKA.

Gen. Koji YAMAZAKI signed the visitors’ book of Zeyathiri Beikman.

The Vice-Senior General met with the delegation led by Gen. Koji YAMAZAKI at the parlour of Zeyathiri Beikman.

They cordially discussed matters based on the development of Myanmar-Japan relations, exchange of goodwill visits, sending of trainees, sports affairs, Army to Army Staff Talks which are annually held for the promotion of relations between the two armed forces of the two countries, rescue and relief measures during natural disasters, exchange of technologies in medical research, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief-HADR, peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, the terrorist attacks of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists in Rakhine State, regional development tasks being carried out by the government and the Tatmadaw as the peace and stability has been restored there, and cooperation between the two militaries based on the mutual friendship, respect and trust.

After the meeting, the Vice-Senior General and the Chief of Staff of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force exchanged the emblems and have group photo taken together with the attendees.

At noon, a senior military officer of the Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army) explained facts about the Myanmar Tatmadaw to the delegation led by Gen. Joji YAMAZAKI at the meeting hall of Zeyathiri Beikman.

The delegation led by Gen. Koji YAMAZAKI visited the Defence Services General Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon and they were explained about the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief-HADR by Surgeon Lt-Col Win Zaw Myat at the meeting hall.
