Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visits Tank Division in Naro-Fominsk, Russia

The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, currently in Russian Federation at the invitation of Minister of Defence Army General Sergey K. Shoigu, visited the Tank Division in Naro-Fominsk at 10.10 am local standard time (1.40 pm Myanmar standard time).

On arrival at the division, the Senior General and party were welcomed by Division Commander Colonel Kolesnikov Andrei Borisovich and they posed for a documentary photo in front of the division.

The commander gave salient points on the organizational set-up and functions of the division and the Senior General questioned what he wanted to know.

Next, the Senior General and party viewed small weapons and armours used in the Russian military, skilled demonstration of tanks, training of the soldiers in the training ground, individuals’ physical exercises and the barracks.

They also viewed firing and exercise by the tanks, training of the soldiers, firing of small weapons, the Russian military-made tanks and the kitchen sets used for battle ground. They were conducted round there by the commander and officials.

The Senior General gave an emblem and gift to the commander and also received a gift from him. Later, they had a documentary photo taken.

The Tank Division was established in 1942. Units of the division took part in Russia’s civil war in 1993, the first Chechen war, peace-keeping operations in South Ossetia in 1997 and the second Chechen war. It is the division formed with main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, selfpropelled artilleries and multiple rocket launchers.
