At a water-pouring ceremony at the banyan tree on Full Moon Day of Kason (today) in 1379 Myanmar Era, one of Myanmar’s 12 seasonal festivals, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and families of the Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) poured water at the Maha Bawdi banyan trees in the compound of the Lawka Chantha Sutaungpyae Pagoda in front of Zeyathiri Department Store in Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday evening.
First, the Senior General and wife offered fl owers, oil lamps and water to the pagoda.
Next, the Senior General, wife and military officers and other ranks and their families took their positions in groups and poured water and sprayed scented water on the banyan trees in the pagoda compound.
At the ceremony, Commanderin-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, the Union Minister for Home Affairs and wife, the Union Minister for Defence and wife, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) and wife, the Commanderin-Chief (Navy) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, and officers, other ranks and families of the offices and departments poured water at Maha Bawdi banyan trees. Likewise, the water-pouring ceremonies at banyan trees on the Full Moon Day of Kason took place at military commands namely Nay Pyi Taw Command, Northern Command, North-East Command, Eastern Command, Central East Command, Triangle Region Command, South-East Command, Coastal Region Command, Yangon Command, South-West Command, Western Command, North-West Command,Central Command and Southern Command.
