Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who was on a working goodwill tour of Austria, was accorded a guard-of-honour welcome by Chief of Defence Staff of the Austrian Armed Forces General Othmar Commenda at the Austrian Defence Ministry at 10 am local standard time.
The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing arrived at the Austrian Defence Ministry and was greeted by General Othmar Commenda and officials. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and General Othmar Commenda took the salute of the Guard of Honour and then inspected it, followed by the mutual introduction of the senior military officers of both countries attending the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the Senior General and the Chief of Defence Staff of Austrian Armed Forces posed for documentary photo and then held talks at the latter’s office in the compound of the Defence Ministry.
At the call, the Senior General said the purpose of the tour was to promote ties between armed forces of the two countries. The two armed forces could make cooperation in many areas. Having better military ties between the two armed forces would also help in promoting bilateral relations between the two countries.Successive Myanmar leaders had recognized European countries as friends since yore. The Senior General invited his counterpart to pay an official goodwill visit to Myanmar.
Then, the Chief of Defence Staff of Austrian Armed Forces said that he took pride of the goodwill visit of the Senior General. He expressed his firm belief that the goodwill visit would promote further relations and cooperation. Armed forces from the European Union countries wished to enhance friendly ties with Myanmar Tatmadaw .Strengthening friendly relations between Myanmar and Austrian armed forces would contribute much to relations between Myanmar Tatmadaw and other EU armed forces. He offered officers from Myanmar Tatmadaw to attend the military training courses in Austria.And, he invited Commander-in- Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to pay an official goodwill visit to Austria at an opportune time.
Afterwards, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing signed the visitors’ book. After exchanging emblems and gifts, the Senior General posed for documentary photo together with the Austrian counterpart.
