Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Tatmadaw goodwill delegation arrive Hanoi, meets embassy families

The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam-SRV at 4 pm local standard time today. The delegation which is on its goodwill visit to SRV at the invitation of its National Defence Minister H.E. Mr. Ngo Xuan Lich was welcomed at the airport by Head of Foreign Relations Department of the Vietnam People’s Armed Forces Lt. General Vu Chien Thang and senior military officers, Myanmar Ambassador to Vietnam U Kyaw Soe Win, Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Col Aung Kyaw Oo and officials.

On arrival at the Myanmar Embassy at 7 pm, the Commander- in-Chief and party were welcomed by the Myanmar Ambassador and his wife and the families of the embassy staff. Afterwards, the Commander-in-Chief met with staff and their families of the embassy and the military attaché office and trainees who are attending the courses in Vietnam. In his speech, the Senior General said that Myanmar and Vietnam were the ASEAN members as well as the CLMV countries. Both countries had long friendly  relations between the countries and the leaders since the Independence struggles. In the time of the multi-party democratic era, the two countries could promote mutual relations and cooperation. According to the duties assigned, staffs of the embassy and the military attaché office were to strive for further promoting relations and cooperation between the countries and armed forces of the two countries. Staffs of respective offices were to compile the historical records of ties and cooperation in the successive eras and then to make efforts to further promote it at a time when they perform their duties. The Senior General stressed the need to observe the strong points which put Vietnam to secure position of a tiger in Asia through the market economic system and apply studies of these situations for interest of the nation. With regard to the trade sector between the two nations, it needs to seek the best ways and means for increasing export volume of the nation. If Myanmar opens the inland trade route to Vietnam, the former will have the opportunities to increase export commodities as well as enhance trade with East Asian countries. Efforts should be made for developing the tourism sector in Myanmar. Both embassy and the office of military attaché, being brotherhood, have to be in unity and cooperate in tasks each other. The Senior General explained present participation of the Tatmadaw in strengthening and stabilizing the multi-party system that the people chose, and participation in achieving success in peace processes to ensure peace and stability which are significant point for the nation.

After that, the Senior General and wife presented foodstuffs, gifts and various items of clothing manufactured by the Tatmadaw garment factories to the ambassador and wife, embassy families, the military attaché and wife, families of the office of the military attaché and trainees. Then, families of the embassy hosted a dinner to the Senior General and party.
