Yangon March 15
Myanmar plans to export mangoes to Russian market within this year, said a spokesperson of the association for technology and market promotion of Myanmar mango.
Plans are underway to boost the export of mango sauces to Russia as the country meets with success in its first sale of mango sauces to Russia last year.
The Russia made an offer to purchase lots of raw material from Myanmar. After negotiating, both sides plan to sign bilateral trading contract in the near future.
Mango is mainly sent to the China market through border trade camps. Myanmar’s mango also receives orders from Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Local growers, producers and exporters expect that the prices of mango are likely to be increased this season because of lower production. But some traders said that the mango price is estimated to be remained unchanged as there are a few difficulties in transporting the crop to China because of Muse Road.
There are over 200 varieties of mango in Myanmar and only 191 varieties are being cultivated. Sein Ta Lone, Shwe Hintha and Padanmyar Ngamauk local mango varieties are the most faovourable varieties in the market and so they are shipped to the foreign countries. And the remaining varieties are distributed only in the domestic market.
