Vice-Senior General Soe Win meets officers, other ranks and families at Hainggyi Island Town

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in- Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win met with war veterans of Coco Island Town at the parlour of the Coco Island Naval Base this morning. He gave words of encouragement and cash awards to them.

Accompanied by senior military officers of the Office of the Commander- in-Chief, the commander of South-West Command and officials, the Vice-Senior General paid homage to Hsandawshin Myat Mawtinsoon Pagoda in Hainggyi Island.

First, the Vice-Senior General offered flowers, water and lights to the pagoda. The Vice-Senior General then presented cash donationto members of pagoda board  of trustees who in turn presented him the image of the pagoda as Dhamma gift.

The Vice-Senior General and party then visited Phaungtawseik Pagoda.

On arrival at Pammawady Naval Region Command Headquarters, the Vice-Senior General and party heard a report by the commander on implementation of the tasks in accord with the objectives and four Tatmadaw capacity building tasks. The Vice-Senior General gave necessary instructions and fulfilled the requirements.

The Vice-Senior General and party inspected the site chosen for construction of Hainggyi Island jetty and were conducted round there by officials. Then, they viewed round the site in motorcades.

In the evening, the Vice-Senior General met with officers, other ranks and their families at Hainggyi Island Station.

The Vice-Senior General said officers and other ranks need to be proud of themselves by knowing their duties. They must always train themselves so that they can be well familiar with individuals’ duties. They must always train in accord with the motto “Training makes you proficient. Proficiency makes you confident. Confidence makes you brave. Bravery makes you victorious”. Training cannot be overnight. It must be done every time or at every opportune time. Hainggyi Island used to experience natural disasters. So in times of any natural disaster, it is necessary to protect the people including their own battalion, unit and their families by drawing plans that are suited to latest situations. Besides, it is required to coordinate with the military command in conducting training occasionally.

After the meeting, the Vice-Senior General presented books and publications on various subjects and senior military officers, foodstuffs and gifts to officers, other ranks and families of the station and cordially greeted them.

Next, the Vice-Senior General and party inspected the housings of families of the naval region command headquarters where officials conducted the Vice-Senior General and party around the station.

Then, the Vice-Senior General comforted officers, other ranks and families who are receiving medical treatment at the local military hospital in Hainggyi Island Town, gave gifts and viewed round the hospital.
