Senior General Min Aung Hlaing meets Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army (RTA) General Chalermchai Sitthisad.

Both Myanmar and Thailand are good neighbouring countries and have a better multi-sectoral relationship. Relations and cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries have reached the best situation as being based on the brother-like friendship. Both sides will continue to maintain this condition, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at a meeting with a goodwill delegation led by Commander-in- Chief of the Royal Thai Army (RTA) General Chalermchai Sitthisad at the parlour of Zeyathiri Villa here at 11 am yesterday.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military offi cers from the Offi ce of the Commanderin- Chief and the Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command. General Chalermchai Sitthisad was accompanied by General Singhasak Uthaimongkol, Director of Neighbouring Countries Coordination Centre from the Royal Thai Army, senior military officers from the RTA and Military Attaché of the RTA to Myanmar Senior Colonel Apichart Choopavang.
At the call, the Senior General said he would like to express his condolence in the demise of Thailand’s King who was the heart of the Thai people and his sympathy for the recent fl ood disaster which occurred in the southern Thailand. He is ready to render necessary assistance. And, the Senior General explained Myanmar on the way of multi-party democracy as of 2011, signing the NCA in 2015, and continuously carrying out peacemaking processes.
Next, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army said that two armed forces between Myanmar and Thailand have been further cementing friendly relations since the Senior General took responsibility of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services in 2011. During his tenure, he continued to say that he would strive for ensuring better relations between the two armed forces. Then, he discussed progress in rehabilitation for flood victims, monitoring terrorist acts in the border region of two countries, and assistance being provided for Myanmar workers in Thailand.
Afterwards, the both sides cordially held talks about continuous cooperation in sports, culture and medical treatment that two armed forces between Myanmar and Thailand had coordinated in the past, exchange of information for effective cooperation in prevention of religious extremists and terrorism in the border region between the two countries, cooperation in preventive measures of forest fire and reforestation in border region, and cooperation in matters related to firmly placing the way of peace processes for armed ethnic groups in Myanmar.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the Commander-in- Chief of the Royal Thai Army exchanged gifts and posed for documentary photo together with delegation members.
