Nay Pyi Taw January 30

The Tatmadaw-owned agriculture and livestock breeding industries are only for the welfare of Tatmadaw families but not for the prof its. So efforts should be made to ensure cheap prices and mass production, said Commander-in- Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on his inspection tour of the model integrated farm of the Central Command yesterday morning.

The Senior General, accompanied by Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commanderin- Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in- Chief (Army) and the commander of Central Command, arrived at the model integrated farm this morning. At the briefing hall of the farm, officials reported to the Senior General and the party on breeding of Novogen Brown layers with the use of Evap Type cooling system, other layers, broilers, breeding and selling of DYL pigs, meat pigs and piglets, breeding of various kinds of fishes with threelayer system, breeding of dairy cows, milk production and selling and growing of Seintalone mango, tissue-cultured banana, Ngwehnin mushroom, star bean and vegetable plantations.

In response to the reports, the Senior General said three main duties of the Tatmadaw are: State defence, training and performing the public’s welfare. The Tatmadawowned agricultural and livestock breeding businesses would not only bring about the welfare of the families of the Tatmadaw but also help support the stability of commodity prices in the region thanks to the production of foodstuffs. If not, they would have to buy these foodstuffs in local markets. As a result, there would be high demand and prices, high. Efforts should be made for the success of it by accepting these works as the public welfare activities. It needs to manage extension of businesses depending on supply and demand of the market and increase of agriculture and livestock products. The Senior General noted that if one wants to develop any task, one must study about it.

Then, the Senior General said that quality strains and pedigree species, soil, water and techniques are of importance in agriculture and livestock breeding tasks. It is necessary to make choice of correct strains, systematic use of soil and water, and systematic carrying out of agriculture and livestock breeding. Seasonal crops and vegetables must be grown through greenhouse system as it is a successful technique. The Senior General spoke of the need to save the water for efficient use. They have to manage agriculture and livestock breeding tasks as samples. As some aqua feeds for Tilapia fish contain hormones which can develop the fish, they must try hard to produce aqua feeds themselves and give it to fish and extend successful agriculture and livestock farms in order to sell products inside and outside the command headquarters at fair prices.

Then, the Senior General and party inspected Ngwehnin mushroom, star bean and crops produced from the model integrated farm of the command headquarters.

Next, the Senior General viewed around cultivation of star bean plantations, operating of fish farms, breeding of dairy cows, breeding of DYL pigs at battery cases, separate keeping of female pedigree DYL pigs, breeding of piglets and adult pigs.

Vegetables, meat, fish and eggs produced from the integrated farm were sold to families of Tatmadawmen. From 1 September 2016 to 28 January 2017, a total of 824,501 eggs, 479 viss of pork, 93 piglets, 8,733 viss of fish, 29,008 viss of milk, 218 viss of Ngwehninmushroom and 6,299 viss of chicken were sold to officers, other ranks and families of the military command and teachers at fair prices, fetching more than Ks-30 million for welfare tasks during the five-month period.
