Yangon April 24

Total volume of manageable-scale trade through the border gates (Border gates 1 and 2) of Myanmar has reached over K 9 billion in fiscal 2014-2015.

Using ITC or individual trading cards these manageable-scale traders exported over 2.723 billion worth of goods and imported over 6.345 billion worth of goods totaling over 9.068 billion during the period between 1 April 2014 and 2015 March end, said an official of the commerce and consumer affairs department.

Manageable-scale traders used ITCs for their exports at Lwejei and Htikhi border gates, and for their imports at Muse, Myawady, Kawthoung points. But the ITC holders used the cards both for their exports and imports at Tamu, Tachilek, Chinshwehaw, Kanpaiktee, Reed, Mawtaung and Kyaingtong gates.

The nation started issuing ITCs at the end of 2012 with the aim of facilitating not only the major traders but also manageable-scale traders in the whole country for border trade development and curbing illegal trade.
