Public recreation centre will be built at a planned place between the moat and the city wall of the Myanansankyaw Royal Palace.
Mandalay June 6
Mandalay City Development Committee (MCDC) said it will start implementing a public recreation project at a planned place between the moat and the city wall of the Myanansankyaw Royal Palace as soon as it gets the green light from the Union Government.
The MCDC has scheduled to implement the project in the 100- day plan with the aim of providing public with a space for recreation and doing physical exercises.
“We plan to build this public recreation centre in accord with the international norms. We will create only a structure-free flower garden where there will be outdoor fitness equipment everybody can use free of charge. Additionally, we will also build a parking lot for the visitors,” said U Thet Naing Tun, co-secretary of the MCDC.
“We are confident that the Union Government will give the green light to this public recreation project which will be included in the 100-day plan. As it will be between the palace wall and the southern moat, we hope it can become a tourist attraction where visitors can rest or recreate while enjoying the serenity of the moat. When completed, it will be a public facility opening daily from 6 am to 6 pm,” he added.
Once there was a popular public recreation garden in this place which was called Mann Thida Park. Built in 1954, this crowded place was removed in 1993 for various reasons.
