Senior General Min Aung Hlaing meets delegates of ethnic armed groups who attended the Union Peace Conference- 21st Century Panglong (third meeting).

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received the delegates of the ethnic armed groups, who attended the Union Peace Conference- 21st Century Panglong (third meeting), at the parlour of Bayintnaung villa here yesterday afternoon.

Also present together with the Senior General were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo, Lt- Gen Tun Tun Naung and senior military offi cers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and Lt-Gen Khin Zaw Oo (Retd). The delegates comprised UWSA ‘Wa’ chairman U Pauk You Yi, SSA (Wang Hai) chairman U Hsay Htin, NDAA (Mongla) vice chairman U San Pae and KIA vice chairman (2) S Guan Maw.

In the meeting, the Senior General expressed his delight in exchanging views with the ethnic nationals. He said that Myanmar is pursuing democracy and anyone needs to act in accord with democratic practices. In so doing, all must work in concert. The State is like a parent, and the Tatmadaw and ethnic armed groups like its children. As they are brethrens, discussion and coordination have to be made with a brotherly spirit.

All must work together through thick and thin in building up a Union based on democracy and federalism, commented the Senior General. They then cordially discussed the signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) and achieving of progress in the peace process through peace talks.

After the meeting, the Senior General presented gifts to the representatives of the ethnic armed groups. They also presented gifts to the Senior General. Later, they posed for a documentary photo.
