Recent terrorist attacks that occurred in Yathedaung and Maungtaw townships in Rakhine State forced Rakhine ethnic villagers to leave their homes on 4 and 5 August.Because of the terrorist attacks including the brutal murder of local Mro ethnic people at Kainggyi (Mro)village in Maungtaw Towship on 3 August and the Bengalis’ attack on police members who were on their mission to arrest suspects of Auknanya Bengali village in Yathedaung Township with sticks,knives, catapults and jingalees at about 7.30 am on 4 August, 622 persons of 134 households in Chutpyin, Padaukmyaing, Pyinshe and Paukpyinyin villages in Yathedaung Township became worried about their safety and left their homes on 5 August and were temporarily staying at Cetipyin and Gwahson villages in the same township.
According to the information about their temporary displacement,Lt-Gen Aung Kyaw Zaw of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) accompanied by the commander of Western Command, senior military officers, officials of border police guards visited the displaced persons at the village monastery and primary school at Cetipyin village on 7 August. The village administrator and local elders explained the reasons behind their displacement.
After the clarification, Lt-Gen Aung Kyaw Zaw, together with village administrators and town elders, coordinated the matters submitted by the families who have temporarily left their homes, including potential losses caused by fleeing and security to be provided by Tatmadaw columns and local border police forces. Next, Lt-Gen Aung Kyaw Zaw and party paid homage and presented offertories to the village monastery abbot Bhaddanta Arcara Ransi.
After the coordinated assistance,among the ethnic people who left the villages of Chutpyin, Padaukmyaing,Pyinshe and Paukpinyin,203 people from 72 households returned to their villages on 7 August and the remaining 419 people from 62 households on 8 August.
The Tamadaw columns and border guard police performing security duties there also helped the returnees carry their belongings and deployed in the villages for security reasons.
