Search and rescue operations go on

Bereaved families share merits gained for meritorious deeds dedicating to those died in crashed plane.

Military vessels from Tatmadaw(Navy), airplanes and helicopters from Tatmadaw(Air) and ground troops in cooperation with local people and fishing trawlers continued search and rescue operations today for the crashed military transport plane Y-8. One more dead man’s body was found along the Maungmakan-Mayingyi beach by ground troops at 10.30 am today bringing the total dead bodies recovered so far to 87.

The body was sent to the Tatmadaw Hospital in Dawei where it was identified by the victim’s family members and forensic tests were carried out. Moreover, 23 more bodies were cremated today in accord with the Buddhist tradition and military procedures after their bereaved families had arrived.
