Senior General Min Aung Hlaing holds talks with Ambassador of New Zealand to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Steven Marshall.

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Ambassador of New Zealand to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Steven Marshall at Bayintnaung Parlour, here, at 2.30 pm yesterday.
At the call, the Senior General explained the situation where Myanmar pursued the path to multiparty democracy in accord with the people’s desire and the Tatmadaw’s pledges, the Tatmadaw’s staunch support for ensuring an administrative system suitable to the country’s prevailing conditions and the ongoing peace process for ending internal armed confl icts. Next, the Senior General expressed thanks for the friendly nations’ assistance for the reform and development of his country, calling for such assistance to contribute to the path Myanmar is pursuing.
The ambassador said the international community has commended Myanmar for its change and progress. He understood the fact that the future of Myanmar must be decided by Myanmar only. It is necessary to consider kind of overall assistance between the two governments. The people’s sense of responsibility is important for national development if it is related to the demand for their rights, the ambassador noted. They then cordially discussed promotion of bilateral friendship and cooperation between the two militaries and cooperation in the areas of agriculture, livestock breeding, food security, veterinary medicine and technology.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and Lt-Gen Mya Tun Oo of the Commander-in-Chief (Army)’s Office. After the meeting, they exchanged gifts and posed for a documentary photo.
